This unique fair-trade ornament represents the scarlet tanager. This bright red bird that migrates between North America and forests in both the Amazon and the Andes eats mostly insects, but it also feeds on fruit. It will look great hanging on your Christmas tree, rear-view mirror or adding a colorful touch to another part of your home. This ornament was woven with chambira palm fiber by a native Amazon artisan. The sale of these ornaments supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. These bird ornaments were made artisans from the campesino village of San Francisco on the Maranon River. Each ornament comes with a tag listing the name and home of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it. This ornament is 5" long - about half the size of the actual bird. Exact colors on the ornament will vary a bit from the photo depending on the artisan who made it. This ornament comes in two sizes: Small (5.5" x 2.75"), Medium (5.5" x 4"). The medium version is just an inch smaller than the life-size bird.
