Purple and Cream Rings Decorative Basket- Fairtrade and Handmade by Peruvian Amazon Artisan

This basket was woven from Chambira palm fibers, some of which were dyed a beautiful deep purple color. These were woven together with natural cream-colored fibers and adorned with vibrant red beads.

All of our baskets are made by local artisans in the Peruvian Amazon and your purchase of Fair Trade products from our store enables talented artisans to earn a fair wage in return for their skill in producing beautiful handicrafts. It also helps protect the trees and rivers of the Amazonian rainforests by giving artisans a way to support their families without using woods from the forest.

Place this decorative handmade basket on a table to hold mail or knick-knacks or hang one or more on a wall to show off their unique designs. Our baskets are woven by Peruvian Amazon artisans from natural chambira palm fiber. They come in a wide range of stunning patterns and colors fashioned from both natural plant and other vibrant dyes and are adorned with seed and wooden beads.  The sale of these baskets supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. This basket was made by a campesino artisan from the association Manos Amazonicas (Amazon Hands) in the village of Chino on the Tahuayo River.

Each basket comes with a tag listing the name and village of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it. These baskets were handmade by different artisans so the exact design may vary from the photo shown for this model.
