This Fair Trade, handwoven basket comes in a vivid color palette of orange, cream, black and red. The fibers come from the Chambira palm tree and are colored with a variety of dyes, including natural plant dyes. The lovely red accent beads are actually legumes from Huayruru trees.
This basket can be hung on a wall with the convenient loop on the back and if you'd like a stunning gallery wall, choose a variety of our baskets to hang together.
Your purchase of any of this handcrafted basket helps support talented local artisans in the Peruvian Amazon by providing them with fair wages for their time and talents. You are also helping to protect the rainforest trees and rivers by giving artisans a way to support their families without damaging the forest.
This basket was made by a campesino artisan from the association Manos Amazonicas (Amazon Hands) in the village of Chino on the Tahuayo River. Each basket comes with a tag listing the name and village of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it.
